Our kitchen is probably my favourite room in our house, but it's blooming hard to take a good photo of which is why this is the first one I’ve shared! We changed out the original lights over the counter, as the previous owners had these big silver carriage light things which just didn't feel right for the modern vibe of the room or the scale. It's a really lovely big, light-filled space, so quite often we're all in here, cooking, kids doing homework at the counter, doors wide open to the garden. Since this picture was taken I've added a row of pink geraniums on the window sill to give me a little bit of English country kitchen, in the middle of Miami.

Exciting news! In case you blinked and missed it when I briefly mentioned it on Insta stories last week, our house was featured on @ruemagazine last week! It was quite a thrill, but also kind of funny knowing that thousands of people have seen (and judged!) your bedroom. We're so lucky to have a big, bright main bedroom which looks out onto our neighbours' banana and palm trees in a sea of greenery, and so we really wanted to keep the vibe light, calm and soothing. We brought the blue daybed from NYC with us, but moved our original bed into our spare bedroom, and upgraded to this amazing four poster which is just as dreamy as it looks! The juju hat above the bed is something I would never have tried if the lovely ladies at @thehabitatcollective hadn't given us a nudge, but it adds some lovely texture. Just out of site is quite a strong piece of artwork, so it's lovely that this particular angle is pretty neutral. I'll share some more little peeks over the next couple of weeks, as there are some spaces I wanted to hold off showing until the Rue feature came out, but which now I can go nuts talking about! Haha. If house spam isn't your thing, sorry!! Back to posting more about books soon I promise!

Let’s talk about awkward spaces and TVs! I feel like long narrow rooms (especially with TVs in!) are so hard to work with 😖, and while I really liked how this room was initially set up with the long couch and the IKEA unit mounted on the wall with polished brass hardware, it didn’t feel super-cozy still. I set out to paint it using Kitten Whiskers by @benjaminmoore which is a lovely pinky-grey-beige colour (sounds gross but it’s pretty I promise!) and it was definitely a bigger task than I had expected, but with a little help from Chris on Sunday we got it done. I love how the colour on the walls separates it from the rest of the hallway even though it’s open on both sides, and it feels like somewhere we’d actually like to hang out rather than just kicking the kids into. It might not be the most photogenic spot in our house, but it’s a real practical family space and I can’t wait to binge a terrible tv show here this weekend. ✌🏻

A year ago in our BK neighbourhood the local church put up a sign which had the Pablo Neruda quote “You can cut all the flowers, but you can’t keep spring from coming”. And I felt my heart lift a little every time I walked past it. Wishing you all a week filled with springtime! 🌷

For all those who were #teamgreen, you were absolutely right. I actually tried pink out of stubbornness at the overwhelming preference for green, and then quickly panicked and changed my mind! It took about two days to paint, including a memorable afternoon where I tried out some new Delta-8 gummy things I’d seen on Instagram and got so spaced out (it’s not CBD folks!) I thought I’d fall off my ladder. I did the inside a pretty sage green and I’m amazed at what a difference it makes! Super happy with the result, though it was a PROJECT. ✌🏻

This is a little peek at Margot's room which is nearly done, though I'm going to add a string of fairy lights or ball lights, or possibly wallpaper on the back wall. The print is from @jenniferament and it's the most Margot print possible, as Margot's favourite game is that she has magical powers and can control the weather. When she was little she had such an intense dream about her magical powers ✨, that she actually believed she could fly when she woke up, and I had to get her to jump off a low stool to prove to her that she couldn't, because I didn't want her to jump off something high and hurt herself! I've never hated bursting someone's bubble more. 😢😢😢
